EIGHT Ledbury Harriers made the long journey to Builth Wells for the first race in the Herefordshire XC Winter League.

The course was challenging with 1,000ft of climbing in the six miles that combined with some technical single track meant the runners had to be at their best.

First male Harrier home was Chris Law in 49 minutes 21 seconds in 36th place.

Next was Neil Grinnell in 51.35 for 43rd followed by Simon Grundy in 53.21 for 53rd and Dave Wilson in 56.41 for 68th out of 118.

In the women’s race, first Harrier home was Susannah Kirk in 57.32 for 13th ahead of Helen Milner in 61.20 for 29, Mel Williams in 61.42 for 31st and Sarah Coggins in 75.19 for 61st out of 72.

The next race in the series is in November at Croft Castle.
