LEADONITES made a winning debut 56-31 in the YBL Under 13 South Division against a young, inexperienced Frankley Falcons team at Bournville College, Longbridge.

Man of the match was Falcons' Aris who topped all scorers with 19 points.

However, hot on his heels were Leadonites pair Sami Miccio and Ben Deards with 18 each.

The scores were tight in the first quarter with Leadonites failing to convert shots advantage into points superiority.

Buckets from Deards, Miccio, Rich Jay and Elliot Bailey were enough to give them a slender 8-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

It was a simple case of not shooting the ball high enough.

This was rectified in the second quarter as Leadonites virtually put the game to bed by the half-time buzzer with a lot of points scored from quick breaks and fast outlet passes.

Harry Warnock and Katie Dudley added their names to the scorers as Leadonites stretched their lead to 34-15.

The third quarter was by far the most equal of the match as the reshuffled on-court Leadonites line-ups struggled to find any cohesive rhythm.

They especially struggled with the enforced half court defending rule that is implemented in YBL matches when a team is 20 points or more ahead.

Michael Stunt scored his first points of the match as the Ledbury team led 46-25 by the end of the third.

Leadonites regained the upper hand in the fourth and stretched out their lead again to round off the match with a convincing win against a young team whose time will come in future seasons as they play closer to the top of their age group.
