OLD MALVERNIANS v OLD TONBRIDGIANS.
THE Old Malvernians defeated the Old Tonbridgians, the holders of the Cricketers Cup, on Sunday, July 13.
The Tonbridgians won the toss and asked Malvern to bat.
The top three batsmen, Gavin Franklin the captain, Oliver Powell from Herefordshire and Mark Hardinges of Gloucestershire kept the score rattling along, the first wicket falling at 114 and the second with the score on 220.
The final total after the allotted 50 overs of 264 was a daunting one. Matthew Smart then took four wickets during his devastating spell.
Tonbridgians could not put up any resistance and were eventually bowled out for just 71.
The Old Malvernians now face Sherborne Pilgrims in the semi-finals at Malvern on July 27.
