EASTNOR II v RUSHWICK II.

EASTNOR went down by five runs in a thrilling finish to their match with league leaders Rushwick at Clenchers Mill Lane last Saturday.

Chasing a total of 162-9, they needed six to win off the final two overs but Louis Hodges was caught off the next ball and the visitors were home.

The game started well for Eastnor after the two Rushwick openers had reached double figures.

Rushwick wickets tumbled to Dan Herbert (3-42) and Tom Hurrell and Rushwick were in trouble at 50-5.

Mark Perkins (54) turned the game around and they went on to reach a competitive total on a wicket where the ball tended to stop on the batsmen.

Eastnor's Christiaan Ferreira took the score past three figures to set up a tense finish in this exciting contest.

Rushwick were catching well now and when Ferreira (31) was caught at long-on, and the patient Mark Wildig was bowled soon after, with the game appeared to be over.

A couple of lusty blows by Richard Watkins gave the home side hope, but it was not to be.
