TERRY Jenkins crashed out of the Stan James World Matchplay, losing a tight match against Dennis Priestley 13-11.

Last year's runner-up failed to reach the quarter-finals this time around as he was beaten by the Yorkshireman at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on Wednesday.

There was never two legs between the pair in the tense contest, with the lead changing hands four times.

Jenkins took three straight legs to put the match at 9-8 but Priestley would not be denied and closed out the match.

The Bull' produced his best display for five months on Monday to win a place in the second round of the prestigious tournament with a 10-6 victory over Alex Roy.

The world number five from Ledbury hit three ton-plus finishes, including a 160 check-out, to see off the qualifier from Watford.

In Jenkins' finest performance since defeating Phil Taylor in the Whyte & Mackay Premier League, four successive legs saw him pull away from 6-6 to record the win.
