Walsh is first in a Surrey tester

MALVERN-based runner Richard Walsh was first past the finishing line in a time of one hour 48 minutes at the ‘The Hardest Half’, Box Hill half-marathon in Surrey.

This challenging race, over mainly rough tracks with the backdrop of the North Downs, was the 25-year-olds first clear win although he has been running and racing for some years.

Walsh is a member of Worcester Athletic Club and is used to taking part in races at a variety of distances, including 5km to full marathons.

He will be racing in the Lake District in Derwentwater and Coniston trail races in the autumn.
