The Worcestershire Club Ladies Section.
IT was certainly well worth the wait. Six years after winning the Doug Cotton Rosebowl at the Worcestershire Golf Club, Kate Anderson turned in the best round of her career to capture the lady captain’s salver with 41 stableford points.
“It’s the one competition I’ve always wanted to win”, said a delighted Anderson, who also dropped her handicap to 17.
On a day of excellent scoring, she pipped Chris Urry by a single point but Urry gained some consolation claiming the best gross prize with Jill Exell (38 points) and the in-form Jackie Marks (37), who won the stableford a fortnight ago, both playing below their handicaps.
Kate Cross triumphed in the bronze section with a superb 39 points, while Evelyn Hill was runner-up with 38.
The club’s youngest member, nine-year-old Lucy Walton, once again demonstrated her talent winning the bronze division stableford with 38 points, reducing her handicap to 28.
