Rangers plan return to West Midlands action

6:40pm Friday 17th February 2012

MALVERN Rangers are set to return to West Midlands League Division Two next season.

The club currently just have a team in Worcester and District Sunday League Division Four after many of their players left with manager Les Jones last summer to join Malvern Town.

Jones led them to the West Midlands League Division Two title in 2010 and Rangers are keen to restore former glories.

They are also the reigning Worcestershire FA Saturday Junior Cup holders after beating Littleton on penalties in last season’s final.

Reg Reynolds, the landlord of the Cross Keys in Belmont Road, will head up the team along with Carl Pitt.

It is hoped Rangers will be based at Victoria Park, along with two other sides under the club banner, but they are looking to move nearer the pub.

“Malvern has a wealth of young, untapped sporting talent waiting to improve,” Reynolds said.

“Developing a young squad of local individuals is our main aim and making positive progress with a sound foundation for the future of Malvern Rangers.”

Any players interested in signing up can email Reynolds at crosskeys92@hotmail.com.
