• Chess - Malvern retained the Worcester and District League Division One title for the third season in a row with a 2½ - 1½ victory over closest rivals Kidderminster Knights.
Geoffrey Herbert’s game on board three ended in stalemate and John Knee drew on board four.
Careful play by Ian Clarke secured another draw, while Brian Turner retained enough material and time to force a crucial resignation from his opponent.
• Rugby Union - Malvern Under 15s laid the foundation for their 36-17 victory over Longlevens with an impressive firsthalf display.
The forwards recycled the ball impressively as tries were scored by Chris Edmunds, Max Holt, Max Hill and Harri Claxton (2).
Jack Travis converted three of these touch downs to leave Malvern 31-0 ahead at half-time, but the departure of captain and scrum-half Laurie Essenhigh to hospital through injury disrupted Malvern.
Longlevens replied with three tries but a late effort by Will Carter secured the home side's win.
