BRANSFORD seniors played their delayed Escape from Christmas fun competition.

Most players were restricted depending on their handicap to what clubs they could use out of a total of six.

It made for some interesting returns in the 11-hole medal competition organised by Mike Kemp.

Leading the way was the consistent Alan Cockill (19 handicap) with 59.

This was the same return as Phil Spencer (18) but Cockill took the top prize on countback.

Their scores were just one better than Brian Taylor (24) while Bob McGrath (19) was fourth on 61.

Paul Edlin (24) managed 62, Dave Miller (17) 64, Dave Ryall (21), Graham Wilks (17) and Tony Lee (18) 65, Andrew Jarvis (23) 66 and June Atkinson (19), Andy Falconer (26), Gerry McCurry (27) and Alan Wallcroft (23) 67.

Meanwhile, Alexander Park’s seniors played through wet conditions at the Pixley course.

The first trophy of the season saw Keith Smith (28 handicap) claim the Winter Stableford Cup with 34 points.

Peter Rouse (14) was second with 29 and Richard Stevens (21) third with 27.

The seniors played another stableford and Smith won again with 32 points from Carl Tasker (15) on 32 and Richard Stevens (21) on 27.
