LEDBURY Rugby Club are propping up Midlands Three West (South) after a convincing 29-8 defeat at sixth-placed Kings Norton.

They shipped five tries ahead of a tough home clash with unbeaten leaders Old Coventrians at Ross Road tomorrow (2.15pm).

A scrappy game at Kings Norton, who were using Woodrush’s ground, was marred by unforced errors from both teams.

Ledbury opened the scoring with an easy penalty following an illegal scrummage move but the early setback seemed to spur the Birmingham hosts into life.

Speedy Jack Fairhurst dived over the whitewash twice but Kings were caught on the hop and let in a soft try to give their visitors hope.

However, the home side regained the initiative with a converted effort to end the half 17-8 ahead.

Fairhurst completed his hattrick with a converted try and the rest of the second period was littered with mistakes until Kings Norton struck again late on.
