A RECORD 10 Ledbury Rugby Club players featured in the North Midlands under 16s trials.
They were among more than 120 teenagers from five areas bidding to impress at Bromsgrove School.
The players had individual skills assessments in the morning, then represented Herefordshire in two 20-minute games, beating the Black Country 25-0 and Greater Birmingham 10-5.
Five from Ledbury, Rory Bateson, Will Butler, Jono Evans, George Hemingway and Cam Hunter, made it through to Telford on Sunday, when the 35- man squad is finalised.
Ledbury’s men resume Midlands Three West (South) action tomorrow at home to Southam (3pm).
Both teams have won their first two games with the Ross Road outfit defeating Pinley 9-8 and Shipston-on-Stour 33-17.
* Newent host St Mary’s Old Boys tomorrow (3pm) after winning 43-17 at Hucclecote to go second in the Gloucester Premier Division.
