MALVERN director of rugby Dave Irish was delighted with the 53-10 beating of Leamington in Midlands Two West (South).
They rose up to second ahead of tomorrow’s visit to Sutton Coldfield’s Spartans (2.15pm).
Irish said: “We quickly found our rhythm against Leamington and kept the intensity up.
“The whole team was involved and, from tighthead prop to full-back, played with a commitment and application we have developed in training and translated onto the field of play.”
An alleged head-butt from Leamington went unpunished and led to Malvern’s George Roberts being shown the red card in the ensuing scuffle.
Irish added: “Rugby is a tough enough game without resorting to violent and illegal acts.
“The Roberts red card was a direct result of the head-butting incident, which started a fracas, but clearly he shouldn’t have entered the field of play, having been substituted.”
