ROOKIE fly-half Tiff Eden looks set to play a part in Worcester Warriors’ bid for promotion to the Aviva Premiership.

The 20-year-old shone in Worcester’s 35-5 victory against Doncaster Knights in the British and Irish Cup final at Castle Park.

Eden played with a high level of maturity and kicked 15 points as Warriors secured their first piece of silverware under the leadership of director of rugby Dean Ryan.

Now Eden appears to have forced his way into the reckoning for their end-of-season Greene King IPA Championship run-in.

Eden expected to return this week to Championship play-off hopefuls Nottingham, with whom he has been enjoying a successful loan spell.

Ryan said: “We used Nottingham as a great development so Tiff could play a number of games and play the way he played on Friday night. Now he’s coming back to us and is part of the run-in.”

The experienced James Percival, Dan Sanderson and winger Dean Hammond were among those who also caught the eye for Warriors in the televised final at Doncaster.

“One game doesn’t light up nine months but I think there are guys who played at Doncaster who are in contention for a place,” said Ryan.

“I thought Percival had one of his better games. In that weather and in that sort of side we could easily select James to do a job.

“Hammond is someone who also did well and we have always known there are five or six of that side who played at Doncaster and are ready choices.

“We know where we are and where we could move to if weather conditions or the form of players changes.”

Ryan says he will be making several changes for tomorrow’s home clash with Yorkshire Carnegie (3pm).
