TIGHTHEAD prop Nick Schonert says Worcester Warriors’ summer arrivals have settled into life at Sixways.

Schonert was a key ingredient for Warriors last term as they clinched promotion to the Aviva Premiership after one season in the Greene King IPA Championship.

Schonert and his Warriors team- mates are in France on a fitness and conditioning camp ahead of next Sat - urday’s friendly against the Barbar - ians at Sixways.

“I am glad to be back with the lads and we’ve hit the ground running,” said Schonert.

“I flew back home to South Africa and spent some time in Durban over the summer with my family.

“I spent a lot of time with my friends doing things like fishing and just chilling and taking my mind off rugby the best I could. It was really good time and well spent.”

The likes of prop Derrick Appiah, scrum-half Luke Baldwin, lock Darren Barry and backrows Phil Dowson and Carl Kirwan have added to the squad, according to Schonert.

“There are big things ahead and I think the coaches really want to get us in the best shape they can,” said Schonert.

“The big thing is that the core of the group is really strong and a really good group.

“All the new boys have just adapted to it and it’s a really good group.

“The first game feels a bit close and we still have a lot of things to work on,” admitted Schonert.

“But I am very confident for the season.”

The Barbarians are in action this afternoon when they take on Samoa in a warm-up match at the Olympic Stadium in London.

Although the full Barbarians’ squad has not been officially named for next week’s trip to Sixways, it should give Worcester’s fans a flavour of what to expect.

Vastly-experienced South African lock Bakkies Botha will be skippering the invitational team against Samoa with Wynand Olivier, a rumoured transfer target of Warriors, expected to start
