RUSTY Upton failed to secure a bonus point from a 20-5 home defeat to Old Coventrians in their first Midlands Three West (South) game for three weeks due to the weather.
In wet conditions, the hosts produced a good first half in attack and defence.
Good phase play kept the ball alive while strong work in defence kept the visitors at bay.
Despite playing against a slight wind, Upton led at half-time through a Max Macfarlane try which Rob Heeley failed to convert.
Old Covs chipped away in the second period and made it 5-3 with a penalty.
Heeley hit the post with a penalty and Old Covs capitalised when after relentless pressure they drove over for a converted score to take the lead.
This was stretched with a penalty and as Upton tired Old Covs used their pick-and-go game to score a second converted try with the last play.
Upton visit Woodrush on Saturday.
