FORMER Dyson Perrins Academy pupil Danny Ligairi-Badham has been appointed head of operations and technical advisor with 2013 World Cup nation Tonga.

The British-born Fijian played rugby union as a winger for Worcester and Harlequins among other clubs and league for Rochdale.

He will assist with coaching and in setting down the foundations for developing Tongan rugby in the future.

They are ninth in the global rankings and preparing for a fourth consecutive World Cup appearance following their tournament debut in 1995.

Ligairi-Badham hopes to inspire Tonga to progress beyond the group stages for the first time when they face Scotland and Italy in the competition hosted by England and Wales. He is targeting a semi-final place for Tonga.
