A DAY and night of music will leave festival-goers feeling anything but blue.

The Fold at Bransford, near Worcester, is gearing up for Blues Fest, which takes place in just under a month.

On Saturday, July 4 from 1pm to 11pm a number of blues bands from around the world will come together to provide a day of entertainment alongside local food producers, who will keep crowds fed and hydrated.

The festival is now in its seventh year and organisers are hoping to top previous festivals.

Caroline Atkinson, one of the event's organisers, said there will be something for everyone at Blues Fest.

"Combine some of the best British blues acts around with the delicious food and drink available and you've got all the ingredients for a fantastic day," she said.

"Our Blues Fest attracts people from all over the country. Providing an eclectic and broad range of blues music, our bands are regulars on the UK circuit. On stage this year will be Jack Blackman, the King Biscuit Boys, Swampcandy, Will 'Harmonica' Wilde Band, Slack Alice, and Chris Hall's Louisiana Swamp Band will be finishing the evening off with a non-stop ride around the swamps and bayous, fuelled by some of the hottest party music this side of New Orleans and Lafayette.

"It should be a fantastic event. We've got bands coming all the way from Germany and the USA to perform here. Last year we had around 600 people join us and that was a nice mixture of families and individuals who all wanted to enjoy the atmosphere, which is always great.

"There will be delicious food served up throughout the event, including gumbo chicken and Louisiana vegetable stew as well as wood-fired pizzas. The Friday Beer Company will also be there, among others so there should be plenty to suit all tastes. The festival is a definite highlight in our calender here and we are very lucky to get some of these bands to join us."

The event is undercover providing shade and shelter, so come rain or shine it will go ahead. Saturday night camping is also available at £6 per person. Tickets to the festival cost £15 in advance or £20 on the gate.
