Wicked is based on the novel Wicked: 'The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West' billed as the untold story of the Witches of Oz often described as a prequel to the wonderful Wizard of Oz offering an alternative point of view.

Witches Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good are outstanding who develop a most unlikely friendship at university in a very different complex world.

Amy Ross as the edgy, green skinned Elphaba was awesome, a huge powerful voice and wonderful stage presence whose chemistry with the amusing, sickly-sweet love her or hate her Glinda the Good was superb. Played by Helen Woolf her pitch perfect vocals complimented Ross, 'Defying Gravity' at the end of Act 1 receiving rapturous applause.

This breathtaking show is an absolute must see - incredible sets, fabulous costumes and choreography, sharp and effective lighting not forgetting the outstanding company who dazzled throughout - the monkeys and the Denizens of the Emerald City were two of my favourites.

Since its Broadway premiere in 2003 Wicked has been seen by 53 million people around the world this production runs until Saturday, 3rd March at the Bristol Hippodrome book your tickets now.
