ARTRIX is home to Bromsgrove’s only cinema, and the venue is offering a big summer of screened entertainment.

A spokesman said: “Screening the latest family blockbusters and musicals alongside award-winning dramas and foreign language films, Artrix Cinema has something for every film fan.

“This season’s family films at Artrix include, animated films Sherlock Gnomes on July 26, July 28, July 30 and August 2; the Incredibles 2 from August 13 to August 16; and Thomas & Friends. Big World! Big Adventures! on August 14 to August 15.”

The spokesman added: “Escape to a Greek island, and bring your sequin flares and best singing voice, for a week of screenings of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again from August 3 to August 11.

“Other Hollywood blockbusters include the 30th anniversary re-release of the 80s classic, Heather’s on September 3 and September 4, followed by The Escape starring Gemma Arterton and Dominic Cooper on September 7 and September 10.”

This summer’s foreign language films include French films Let The Sunshine In, starring Juliette Binoche from July 25 to July 27, and the erotic thriller L’Amant Double on July 30 and July 31, followed by German film In The Fade, starring Diane Kruger on August 1 and August 2, and the Icelandic film Under The Tree on August 15 and August 16, all with English subtitles.

The spokesman added: “Artrix also screens many live theatre, music and dance events from a whole host of international art establishments, including Romeo & Juliet: RSC Live from Stratford Upon Avon, on July 18.

“Other highlights of the season include NT:Live Julie on September 6; RSC: Merry Wives of Windsor on September 12, La Boheme on Sydney Harbour on September 13; The Australian Ballet: The Merry Widow on September 24; NT Live: King Lear on September 27 and Royal Opera House Live presents Mayerling on October 15.

“Fans of classical music can enjoy pre-recorded screenings of Andre Rieu’s 2018 Maastricht Concert on July 28.”
