The British Red Cross is looking for compassionate people in Herefordshire to help people at home after an illness or a stay in hospital.
Volunteers can get involved by making home visits to people recovering from an illness or after a stay in hospital, providing practical help with domestic tasks like light paperwork, shopping or picking up prescriptions.
Volunteers also provide companionship or link individuals up with local groups and social activities.
Vanessa Turner, service manager for independent living in Herefordshire said: “Our volunteers are vital in helping us run our support at home service, which we are hoping to expand in Herefordshire.
“Sometimes people just need a little extra help get back on their feet and regain their confidence and independence. Our volunteers offer a friendly face, practical support, advice and information during a difficult time."
She added: “Volunteering is also a wonderful way to learn new skills and make new friends, while also making a difference to people in your local community. We are looking for people who can spare a few hours each week between 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Full training and support will be provided."
