THE Crocodile 8 will see runners taking on a tough multi-terrain eight mile race this month.

Starting and finishing at Burghill Community Academy the race takes runners through a route across roads, grass and mud.

The race's name heralds from the 'Crocodile Wood', the local nickname for Tillington's Badnage wood which looks uncannily like the body of a crocodile from a distance.

The main race begins at 3pm on Sunday, May 29 for 16 and overs.

The entry fee is £15 (affiliated members) for online payments. Runners can enter on raceday before 2pm (cash only and a £3 surcharge).

Race entries are limited to 350.

The children's (11 to 16) junior race is at 3pm and is 2.57 miles long. Entry is £5 and to be paid on raceday.

Children's (under 11) fun runs (KS1 & KS2) start at 1.30pm. Entries are £2.

The Bell Inn at Tillington is once again playing host for the evening's entertainment which starts at 6pm.

There will be live music and prizes awarded during the evening.

All proceeds are divided between the school and local charities.
