A DOG which was stolen during an aggravated burglary in Hereford could have been sold to someone in Wolverhampton.

Police are appealing for help to find the dog, which was a cherished family pet and stolen during the burglary at around 11.05pm on March 26.

As reported last month, three men entered a house in Portland Street and one of the occupants, a man in his 20s, had a knife held against his throat and was punched in the face while pepper spray was activated.

The suspects made off with the seven-month-old female French bulldog, a handbag and electrical items.

Two other occupants in the property were taken to hospital as a precaution from the effects of the pepper spray and have since been discharged.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Nick Shutt said: "We are continuing to carry out a thorough investigation into this offence to identify those responsible.

"Understandably, the dog's owner is absolutely distraught and we would love to help to reunite the dog with her. The dog has a distinctive white rectangle mark on her chest.

"It's believed the dog may have since been sold to someone in Wolverhampton, who could be unaware that she is cherished family pet. The dog is microchipped, so anyone who takes her to a vet will be able to check her details.

"If anyone has recently bought a young female French Bulldog, or knows anyone who has, please check the dog's microchip details. You could help to reunite a heartbroken owner with their beloved pet."

The offenders are described as three men, one white and two black, with Birmingham accents. They were dressed in dark clothing and wore scarves covering the lower part of their faces.

Officers are also continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the offence or any suspicious activity, or has any information which could help with the investigation, to please call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident 837s of 26 March 2018 or information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org
