IF you fancy world-class concerts and even a trip to the pub, the historic manor house of Hellens at Much Marcle, and nearby locations, will surely be the place to be next month.
In fact, there will even be masterclasses and tango at the village church, during the sixth Hellensmusic festival.
A spokesman said: “This year’s festival is the biggest and most varied yet taking place from May 16 to May 20 in and around Hellens, one of England’s oldest manor houses, with events spreading to St Bartholomew’s Church and The Walwyn Arms pub in Much Marcle.
“Now firmly established as one of the main events of the musical calendar in Herefordshire, the festival kicks off with an evening dedicated to tango’s star instrument, the bandoneon, played by the Argentinean virtuoso Omar Massa. The concert takes place at St Bartholomew’s Church and offers a musical journey from Bach and Vivaldi to tango master Astor Piazzolla.”
Another highlight will be Christian Blackshaw’s piano recital on May 17, also at St Bartholomew’s Church.
The spokesman added: “The festival continues at Hellens on May 18 and May 19 with two chamber concerts dedicated to the music of masters such as Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Mozart and Mahler.”
