A DISABLED woman has completed the New York marathon despite having a fall the day before the race.

Helen Williams, 44, from Swainshill in Hereford completed the race in 6h59m.

She hurt her elbow during the fall the day before but was determined to go ahead.

Two years ago, Helen, who has Cerebral Palsy and a learning disability, ran the London marathon.

She also ran Cardiff and Swansea half marathons this year.

Helen has been backed by Achilles International, which is a New York based agency who support people with disabilities to achieve through sport. They selected to support Helen to run the New York marathon.

Support runner Gary Bodman, who also supported her in London, supported her for the New York race.

Helen would like to thank the runners who have supported her through her training.
