MEGAN Baker House (MBH), a charity for movement disorders, is running a new service in Ledbury.

And local people will be invited to an open day in the New Year.

Megan Baker House is a charity based in Moreton Eye, near Leominster, Herefordshire who provide support for children and adults with neurological, movement disorders such as Cerebral Palsy, Dyspraxia, Parkinsons’ and Parkinsonism, Stroke, Head and Brain Injury and similar conditions.

The charity that has been running since 2002 is now reaching out to areas such as Gloucester, Worcester, Malvern, Cheltenham and the south of Hereford, with an additional centre now based in Ledbury, which is easily accessible from the M5 and M50.

A spokesman said: “Both centres provide support in the form of conductive education.

“This is an educational movement approach that teaches an individual how to manage and deal with the difficulties and challenges they face, and to promote their independence and confidence.”

The spokesman added: “Within small group sessions, individuals will work on all aspects of movement, including: lying, sitting, standing, walking, speech, writing, lifting, carrying, transitioning, balance and co-ordination and fine motor skills such as fastening, threading and fine manipulation.”

The new Ledbury Centre is run by Conductive Education Specialist, Sue Mechan and Conductive Education Assistant Emily Godding.

There will be an open day being held at the Ledbury Centre, on Orchard Lane, on Thursday January 17.
