A KINGTON nursing home is celebrating after three staff were named finalists in the regional finals of the prestigious Great British Care Awards.

The Garth Nursing and Residential Home trio, chosen from hundreds of nominees, were Mia Dignos in the palliative care/end of life category; Marion Payne in the dignity in care section and Robyn Friswell in the dementia carer category.

And to put the icing on the cake, Marion went on on win her category at the Great West Midlands Care Awards in Birmingham to qualify for the national finals on March 8.

"Achieving the finals is a real testament to all three individuals and also the team at the Garth which they represent," said the family-run Garth's registered manager Rachel Shortt.

"We have ‘one chance to get it right’ and this is the ethos of the whole team who strive for excellence in the care provided.

"Massive congratulations to Marion and good luck in the national finals."

The Great British Care Awards celebrate excellence across the care sector.

The purpose of the awards is to promote best practice within both home care and care homes sectors, and pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
