COUNTERFEIT cash totalling £20,000 has been seized in Hereford.

West Mercia Police's Local Policing Priorities Team South took to Twitter to announce the find.

Police officers made the discovery after stopping a car on Widemarsh Street at 2pm last Friday.

The vehicle was stopped following reports that the driver had been using counterfeit money earlier that day in Telford.

A 27–year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of counterfeit currency.

She has been released under investigation.

Herefordshire LPPT’s Detective Inspector Ross Jones said: “The LPPT along with our Safer Neighbourhood Teams provide a visible policing response to tackle issues that matter to our local community of Hereford.

"As part of our Christmas Presence campaign we have increased the number of officers on patrol throughout the busy festive period.”
