DO you know a charity or community group in need of money? We may be able to help.

The Hereford Times has teamed up with the Herefordshire Community Foundation to seek out good causes in need of funds.

We want to hear from anyone doing work that benefits the community in Herefordshire.

The Herefordshire Community Foundation has distributed more than £3 million to thousands of organisations in the county since it started in 2003.

It works to match donors with communities that need most help.

Constituted community groups can apply even if they are not a registered charity, as long as they can provide recent accounts, detail of their activities and how much they have raised.

The foundation is particularly interested to hear from groups who deal with rural isolation and disadvantage who have never applied for a grant before.

Recently, the foundation helped Hereford Skatepark, started in 2004 by a group of people from the local community who wanted to build a free-to-use state-of-the-art skatepark in Hereford.

Over the years they have raised the money to build this all-concrete sports facility all through grants and donations.

Donations rangef from £18.64 from an eight-year-old supporter who insisted on emptying his money box, to grants of £50,000 from national funders.

This group of local volunteers continue to manage the skatepark, keeping it safe for all those who enjoy wheeled sports.

The Marches Family Network work with and for children and young people with disabilities and their families in Herefordshire.

The charity offers targeted short break activities and runs youth clubs.

Last year it received £750 from the foundation to put on an aerial fun session for families with disabled children.

The young people could take time to try out the aerial harness, watch others taking part, and relax in the yoga hammocks.

For young people who use electric wheelchairs this was an unusual and exciting opportunity to move more freely.

The session also seemed to appeal to children on the autistic spectrum, giving both a sense of containment and freedom.

Last summer, through social media, Herefordshire Young Carers were put in touch with the foundation and received a grant to help with their running costs until they can secure more funding.

They run fortnightly classes for young carers to meet each other, focusing on self-esteem, stress and anxiety.
