THE SAS wants to add a medallion to the chain of Herefordshire Council's chairman.
Councillor Brian Wilcox, the current chairman, received a letter from the elite regiment expressing the offer of a donation.
He told Friday's meeting of the Full Council that the SAS wanted to pay for the addition as a gift to the county.
Coun Wilcox said the donation would be made in recognition of the support given to the SAS soldiers and families by the people of Herefordshire.
He added that he hoped the addition to the chairman's chain would be made soon while he was still in the role.
