NHS services in Kington are set to move from Kington Court to the town's GP surgery in April.

Wye Valley NHS Trust took the decision in a bid to promote closer working and improved communication between local GPs and a number of the trust's teams moving into the surgery

Services on the move include District Nurses and Health visitors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and staff providing a range of outpatient clinics.

The Dental Access Referral Centre will remain at Kington Court.

“We are in the process of informing patients,” said David Farnsworth, associate director of integrated care at Wye Valley NHS Trust, which has provided a range of services from Kington Court for a number of years.

“Kington Surgery is not far away, so it shouldn’t impact on accessibility, but it will allow us to improve the clinical effectiveness of our community teams as it will enable closer working and information sharing with GP teams based in the surgery,” added David.

The move to co-locate community teams in the same building as local GPs also dovetails with the wider vision of the Local Sustainability Programme along with the aspirations of the recently published NHS Long Term Plan which aims to bring together agencies and speciality teams within communities to work collaboratively to deliver care closer to peoples’ homes.
