TWO men have been arrested after an attempted burglary at Rhyl's new water park just days after residents took the first rides on its attractions.
Police were alerted to the incident at SC2, on the West Parade, on Monday night.
The men attempted to gain entry but were scared off by an alarm.
“Two people gained access to the outside Splash Pad area of SC2. No damage was caused by the intruders and there was nothing taken. This part of the site is currently under construction.
"The security alarms were activated and the alleged perpetrators lefty the scene “.
The £15 million pound water park - which is part funded by Denbighshire County Council, Rhyl Town Council and other partners - is currently in process of soft testing sessions, which began on Thursday, March 14, ahead of its official opening on Monday, April 15.
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "We were called at 11.53pm on Monday, March 18 after a member of the public witnessed the two men at SC2 on West Parade in Rhyl.
"The men fled the scene after triggering an alarm and ran down the beach in the direction of Pensarn Beach.
"They were then arrested on suspicion of burglary."
