A VISUALLY impaired man from Hereford is gearing up to embark on a big challenge.

Together with partner Paula and guide dog Omar, Stuart Nickless will walk from Torquay to Lands End over the course of a week, starting on June 30, in aid of Guide Dogs UK.

They will also be raising funds for an independent support group for the visually impaired, TCRVHC.

The independent group supports former students of the Manor House, a rehabilitation unit for blind and visually impaired people.

The unit, run by the Royal National Institute of Blind People, closed in 2004 due to a lack of funding.

Both causes are particularly close to the heart of visually impaired Stuart, who spent two months learning skills for independent living at the Manor House in 1991.

To support the trio's fundraising mission, visit Stuart Nickless' JustGiving page here or pick up a sponsorship form at The Grapes in Church Street, The Black Lion on Bridge Street or the AbiNim Gym in Widemarsh Street.
