The first of May is always a date for celebration on the calendar, being a sign that spring is really here, despite unseasonal weather.
But youngsters from Much Marcle Primary had a double reason to celebrate, because on May 1 they were performing in the Great Barn at Hellens, Much Marcle, as part of the Hellens Music Festival.
Deputy head and Class 3 teacher, Laura Evans said: “It was brilliant. The children sang a medley of songs they had been rehearsing since September, and there was audience participation as well.
“And afterwards, there were canapes and drinks on the lawn, and the children enjoyed running around the lawns and seeing the donkeys.”
The youngsters are sure to return. Their performance was part of an ongoing project sponsored by the Hellens Music Festival.
Miss Evans said: “The project will continue next year.”
