CARERS from across the county are being invited to a free Carers Week event at Hereford County Hospital to access support and advice from healthcare professionals.

Taking place on June 10, from 10.30am to 2.30pm, the event will offer support and advice on hydration and nutrition, falls prevention, mobility, keeping fit, and safe moving and handling.

To mark Carers Week (10 to 16 June) Wye Valley NHS Trust and Carers Trust 4all, a registered charity, are running this event, along with a stand on 10 June at the hospital’s main reception, and the launch of a new Carers Charter across the Trust.

Helen Byard, deputy director of nursing at Wye Valley NHS Trust, said: “We’re very pleased to work together with Carers Trust 4all and launch the Carers Charter in all of our hospitals, which is a set of principles that recognise and respect the valuable role of carers, and help carers to also look after themselves.

“If you are a carer please book your place as soon as possible on the Carers Week event, where there will a variety of healthcare professionals on hand to offer free advice and support. Refreshments will be available”.

Helen Esslemont from Carers Trust 4all said: “We are delighted to introduce our CarerLinks Service into Herefordshire.

"Our experienced Carer Advisors are based throughout the county and offer emotional and practical support.

"If you are caring for a friend or family member, we will work with you to address your needs, help you make plans for the future and ensure you are linked into vital services and support networks. We look forward to hearing from you!”.
