THE NEW headteacher at a Hereford primary school is proud of her students are two were crowned overall winners at a city maths day.
Hereford Schools Maths Day was recently held at Lugwardine Primary School, with Claire McKeown sending 10 children from St Thomas Cantilupe Primary School to the event to challenge them and help them develop their skills.
She said she was absolutely delighted with the efforts of all pupils, but especially year 4's Andrei Gavrilas and Megan Barnett who were overall winners.
"I'm so proud of the way all our children performed," Mrs McKeown said.
"Taking part in this competition was a great experience for them all and we're looking for more opportunities to challenge our children and boost their confidence at events like this.
"On the day, the children competed in teams, doing their best to complete the tasks and puzzles that were put in front of them. All our children did really well, and we couldn't be more pleased with them.
"For Andrei and Megan to win the whole competition made the day all the more memorable.
"While maths is clearly one of our priorities, it is vital we offer our pupils the opportunity to be the best they can be in all areas and I'm really excited about what lies ahead for everyone at our school."
