A DRINK-DRIVER has lost his licence after leaving his home to diffuse an argument.
Bartosz Wesolowski, 26, of Bradnor View, Kington, entered a guilty plea when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford.
Shafquat Reaz, prosecuting, said that just after midnight on June 22, police received a report from a concerned neighbour that Wesolowski was driving his blue BMW 3 Series on the B4259 between Eardisland and Leominster after drinking alcohol.
A police search was conducted, but Wesolowski was found back at his home at 12.38am.
Police reported that the car was warm and Wesolowski was unsteady on his feet.
A breath test revealed he had 57mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, 22mg over the legal limit.
Christopher Read, for Wesolowski, said he had spent the evening at home hosting a barbecue for friends.
He did not intend to drive that evening, but an argument with his partner had led him to get in the car and leave the property in order to diffuse the situation.
"This was a very bad idea," Mr Read said.
"He admits that what he has done was foolish, and he admits the offence."
Wesolowski was disqualified from driving for 16 months. He was ordered to pay a fine of £330, prosecution costs of £135, and a victim surcharge of £33.
