A NEW architect practice has opened in Hereford, focussing on using local, natural materials.
Elly Deacon Smith and Matt Hayes have set up Arbor Architects. They have spent the last six years working together at Architype Architects, who recently won the AJ100 Sustainable Practice of the Year.
Elly Deacon Smith said: "We are lucky to live in a county that has an abundance of natural resources.
"By building with local straw, timber, stone and sheep's wool we can minimise the carbon footprint of our buildings, offer health benefits for occupants and help to increase the use of local skills and craftsmanship."
