Moves are afoot to reinstate the Herefordshire Market Towns Forum, which would allow towns like Ledbury to speak with one voice on important matters.
The idea was discussed by Ledbury Town Council at a full council meeting last week, and there was wide support among the councillors.
Cllr Liz Harvey said: “Herefordshire Council’s new administration is keen to have a more in-depth relationship with the market towns."
A re-instated forum could "identify collective issues."
A number of Herefordshire market towns have expressed interest, but Ross-on-Wye so far has been lukewarm.
Chairing the Ledbury meeting, the town's deputy chairman, Daniel Vesma said: "If Ross are saying they don't want to get involved, that's their loss."
He suggested that meetings could be once a month, and Cllr Harvey suggested meetings could be rotated around their various localities.
