A WAR Memorial flattened in a motoring accident last summer has been given pride of place at the heart of the village.
Shobdon's stone cross has been moved from its previous location, where it had stood for nearly a century, after it was badly damaged in the crash,
It underwent a painstaking restoration project before it was rededicated at a ceremony at its new home on Hanbury Green last month.
Councillor Bill Stokes said: "The war memorial had stood in its previous location for nearly 100 years and the parish were deeply saddened when it was knocked over.
"However, this presented the opportunity to relocate the memorial to a more central location as well as to appeal for any additional names that should be inscribed upon it.
"Of the 14 additional names put forward, four have been added and further research is being undertaken on the remainder.
"Shobdon Parish Council are very proud of this project, and the rededicated memorial has received many compliments. It is now in a much safer location and will now allow for the inclusion of schoolchildren from Shobdon Primary School in the November remembrance services."
