AIDAN Thomas shined under the Westfields floodlights as the Hereford side comfortably moved into the next round of the FA Cup.

The striker struck four times as Fields overcame Congleton Town 4-1 at allpay.park tonight in the Extra Preliminary Round replay.

Thomas opened the scoring after 37 minutes when he cut in from the left wing to give his side the lead before the interval.

He doubled the lead after an hour when his shot from 25 yards took a decisive deflection and then got the crucial third goal when he raced on to Craig Jones's slide rule pass and beat the visiting keeper.

Congleton had struggled to cope with Westfields' high tempo and good work from Matt Reeve forced a defensive error. Thomas was first to react to the loose ball and scored his forth goal after 72 minutes.

Emini Adegbenro scored a late consolation for the Cheshire side but the match had long been settled by Thomas who could well find himself named as player of the round and receive a mention in the FA Cup Final programme for his efforts.

Westfields' victory means they will host Lutterworth Town in the Preliminary Round of the competition on Saturday, August 24.

The Leicestershire side play in the United Counties League Division One.
