WESTFIELDS kept up their impressive start to the season with a thumping 6-1 win on Tuesday night.

The Hereford side travelled to Royal Wootton Bassett and Aidan Thomas and Richard Greaves both grabbed a brace.

Craig Jones and Keanu Cooper also scored for Fields while Alfie Presley got a consolation for the home side.

That result leaves Westfields fourth in the Hellenic League Premier Division and two points from the top.

Tuesday's win came three days after the club had picked up another point on the road.

Fields scored three and felt they could have had a few more in Saturday's encounter at Brimscombe & Thrupp.

Sam Gwynne opened the scoring for the visitors after 16 minutes when the captain got on the end of a cross to fire home from eight yards.

Brimscombe soon restored parity when Ed Major bent a super shot past Harvey Rivers and the team from Stroud then took the lead as Kane Kahaki deflected a cross into his own net.

In an action packed first half, Thomas set up Ben Hayes to make the score 2-2 before Jack Smith headed home unchallenged from a corner to give the home side a 3-2 interval lead.

After the break Westfields opened up smartly and drew level when Thomas shot home from the edge of the penalty area.

This signalled an onslaught of the Brimscombe goal as Westfields pushed forward but Kahaki, Greaves and Thomas were all denied by goalkeeper Ashley Gale.

Westfields, who are undefeated in the league, face Ardley at home on Saturday when they will be launching their new home kit with sponsors C J Insurance.

Westfields chief executive Andy Morris said: "This is an invaluable sponsorship arrangement and follows on from the excellent arrangement we’ve had from allpay Ltd over many many years.

"The allpay.park sponsorship with allpay Ltd will be unaffected and will remain in place for which we are indebted to Tony Killeen and his directors.”
