A STOURBRIDGE youngster has helped to raise cash for the Little Princess Trust by having his long locks chopped off.

Charlie Kumar, aged seven, had been growing his hair since he started school but after telling his mum he wanted to help children less fortunate and without hair he had his flowing mane, which was 10 inches long, cut off at a fundraising party in Mary Stevens Park.

As well as donating his thick brown hair to the Little Princess Trust - the youngster and his mum have raised more than £1,000 for the charity which creates wigs for children suffering from hair loss as a result of illness.

Charlie's proud mum Perveen Kumari, who also had her long hair cut for the cause by Wollaston Hair Lounge's Gregg Westwood, said: "Charlie is a very kind-hearted, well mannered little gentleman. Since an early age he has been growing his hair and raising money for his cause.

"He said he wanted to grow it until it was long enough. He has been amazing all throughout."

The fundraising event, held on September 14, also included a cake bake sale, facepainting, live music and a craft and portrait stall and it raised a grand total of £1,216.
