A hair-raising experience for John Masefield sixth formers raised funds for a mental health charity, last week.

Scores of onlookers gathered at Ledbury Rugby Club to watch a charity head-shave.

On Wednesday, October 9, students of John Masefield Sixth Form led by Morgan Skidmore took part in the head shave to raise awareness of young people’s mental health issues and to raise money for the ’ MIND’ mental health charity.

And the high school has nothing but praise for their efforts.

Mark Hawksworth, head of the sixth form at the John Masefield High School said: "The whole group of Year 13 boys who supported Morgan through some difficult times have done a terrific job raising an incredible amount , in excess of £3000 in a short time.

"The event was hosted at Ledbury Rugby club and over 150 people witnessed the lads losing their locks."

He added: "There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when first Morgan and then his younger brother Fin talked about Morgan’s difficult times and the importance of talking to friends, family and teachers.

"We are all so proud of Morgan and his friends for supporting each other and this great cause.

"They have done a fantastic job!’
