FIVE fire crews from northern Dorset attended a blaze at the annexe of a wooden property at Pulham near Sturminster Newton on Sunday at 6pm.

A crew from Sturminster Newton and one crew from Sherborne were mobilised and arrived to find the building well alight.

A spokesman for Dorset and Wilts Fire service said: "We got to work using one main line and one hose reel jet. An extra appliance was requested for manpower, this was sent from Shaftesbury fire station.

"The incident was sectorised and further assistance was requested. Extra crew becoming available meant that the additional two pumps came from second crews at Sturminster Newton and Sherborne.

"The fire was extinguished using four hose reel jets, two main lines, one ground monitor, one roof ladder and one triple extension ladder. Relief crews came from Maiden Newton and Dorchester, and a final re-inspection was completed by a crew from Sturminster Newton before the incident was closed."

No people are reported injured in the incident and the cause is still being investigated.
