LIGHTING up red every evening, The Courtyard will be raising awareness leading up to Armistice Day on November 11. This marks 101 years since the end of the First World War.

In June 2019 The Courtyard pledged its support for military personnel and families and became the 46th organisation in Herefordshire to pledge its support and signed the Covenant during Armed Forces Week.

Corporate Fundraising Manager Olle Grove said; “As we are in such a prominent location on Edgar Street, the decision was made to light the building up red in the evenings which would encourage passers-by to reflect on the sacrifices made by others.”

The Courtyard will also host a touring exhibition of a Herefordshire Bull made entirely of wire interwoven with poppies.

The Brummie Bull is the latest community project from Herefordshire Community Recycling Centre and they have been working alongside schools to create the touring piece of artwork.

The centre are asking the public to make poppies to pin to Brummie when it pops up at a venue near them.

Herefordshire’s Centre for the Arts offers concessions, where possible, for military personnel, veterans and their families.
