A SECOND World War flying jacket estimated to be worth around £1,000 was stolen from a Leominster shop's remembrance display.
The jacket, which belonged to pilot James Leyburn Murphy, was part of a display at War and Son, a medals and military antiques business.
At around 3am on November 4, just two days after the display was put up, the window of the shop on Drapers Lane was smashed and the jacket taken from a mannequin.
The shop's owner Steve Nuwar said the brown leather fleece-lined Irvin flying jacket had a belt strap impressed with J.L. Murphy, as well as two repair patches to left arm, one circular, one oblong.
"It's a lovely bomber jacket from World War Two, it's a piece of memorabilia," Mr Nuwar said.
"It was that of an individual war hero, James Leyburn Murphy. We were also displaying local men and women who had served in the First World War.
"After the break-in there was smashed glass around the display everywhere."
West Mercia Police are appealing for information about the incident, and anyone with information should contact them on 101.
The crime number for the case is 22/103260/19.
