Students from John Masefield High School who are members of Ledbury Youth Council have now planted a new hedge of trees at Ledbury’s Riverside Park.
A school spokesman said: “The Youth Council group was approached by students at the school last year who were concerned about paper wastage.
“As a result, members have just completed the hedge planting with help from a local woodsman and Ledbury’s Tree Warden.
“A member of staff from the school ordered 120 ‘whips’ from the Woodland Trust and provided spades and forks to carry out the work. The ground was prepared on a very wet Saturday morning last week and the trees have now been planted – a mix including rowan, crab apple, hawthorn, hazel and dog rose.
“Ledbury Youth Council was set up in 2015 as a result of the questionnaires filled in by over 300 young people as part of information gathering for the new Ledbury Town Plan.”
