What can we as individuals do to combat damage to the planet from environmental pollution and global warming?

We can vote for the most environmental friendly governing bodies, oppose environmentally damaging projects through planning representations and press for policies and procedures which prevent such projects.

We cannot continue to accept increasing environmentally damaging activities that are allowed by policies which are insufficiently robust to prevent proliferation of plastic and immoral squeezing out of our fellow creatures.

We can avoid buying food wrapped in plastic, by growing and buying vegetables and fruit without it, putting meat and fish over the counter straight into reusable plastic boxes and avoiding groceries with non-recyclable packaging.

We can avoid superfluous out of season soft fruit produced under vast swathes of plastic.

We can replace our cars and boilers with electric ones, obliging the government to encourage renewable and sustainable power supplies such as solar, and challenging ones, such as wood biomass.

Inaction because the consequence is not on our doorstep will lead to destruction of life on this beautiful planet.
