THE BIGGEST mid-week 10k race in the Midlands, hosted by Dudley Kingswinford (DK) Running Club, opened for entries this weekend (25-26 January).

Taking place on Wednesday 6th May, with a 7pm start, entries were launched at the National Running Show at the NEC on Saturday (25 January).

Five hundred flyers were snapped up by running enthusiasts from across the UK attending the showpiece exhibition.

Entries are being handled by Cradley Heath-based Stuweb Race Management Services and can be made at https://www.stuweb.co.uk/event/3833

The race is a Gold Standard event, chip timed and will take place on quiet, undulating country lanes.

DK member Sally Husselbee ran a 10k with a difference on 23rd January, letting a head torch light her way when she took part in the Salcey Forest Gato Sports Head Torch 10k in Northampton.

On 18th January Helen Tromans ran the annual Buff Winter Trail Wales half marathon in the Coed Y Brenin Forest Park in the Snowdonia National Park. Helen finished the race in two hours six minutes and 19 seconds, coming second in her age category of female veterans aged 50 plus.

In total, 750 runners took on the challenging course made up of trails and tracks set against a stunning mountain backdrop.
